Carne Asada Bake!

11 Aug

This is Jason posting.

Today I took the wifey and her co-worker to costco over in carmel mountain.  We noticed a new item on their menu!  It was a carne asada bake!  It’s like a chicken bake except it has carne asada, cheese, pico de gallo and guacamole on the inside.  It totally looked exciting!  Knowing me, I had to try it out!  It cost $3.79 so it was one of the more expensive items on the menu.  It was piping hot when it came out.  I think a lot of other people were trying out the new item.  There isn’t cheese baked on the outside of the bread.  The bread is the same dough they use for the chicken bake.  The carne asada doesn’t have a crunch but it was tender.  They gave a decent amount of mouth sized meat.  The pico de gallo was soften but not completely cooked through.  It added a nice touch to the overall taste.  The guacamole and cheese all melted together to create a nice sauce for the meat.  It was definitely moist on the inside like the chicken bake used to be.  It wasn’t a super flavorful dish but it was decent.  I would definitely get it again if I was in the mood for some beef.  It’s nice to see costco adding new items to their menu.  I’m not sure if all costcos will do this but I’m sure glad the costco in carmel mountain is experimenting!  Yum!
